AND I WON'T BACK DOWN

When you read the lyrics of Tom Petty's I Won't Back Down written below What do you think of? What is it that YOU will Not Back Down To? Where does your Courage of Conviction take you. Journal about what you feel very strongly about..strongly enough to NOT BACK DOWN FROM ANYONE! Well I won't back down, no I won't back down You could stand me up at the gates of Hell But I, won't back down No I, stand my ground, won't be, turned around And I keep this world from draggin' me down Gonna stand my ground, and I, won't back down Hey baby! there ain't no easy way out Hey yea! Stand my ground And I won't, back down Well I know what's right, I got just one life In a world that keeps on pushin' me around But I'll, stand my ground, and I, won't back down
On my way to Asia....So the give away this week for all that post a comment from today through the 6th (the day I return ) will be Asian newspapers and ephemera. All of my artist friends will like this. If you are not as into art as you are journaling you can choose to have a brand new journal instead. It will be your choice. I will randomly draw the name from the comments and the flickr pool. Questions? email me at smsummerville@hotmail.com. I will be communicating through email the entire time I am gone. For those of you that pray, please pray for a safe trip (to and from and while there). Sending Love, Susan

  2. Won't back down.
My first reaction was to go back and repost "DUST OFF YOUR SOAPBOX", but then thought about something else I won't back down from.

Mommy claws! You know them, if you are a mother. They come from no where and are very long and sharp like tallons. Your child has been done some injustice by an adult or another child. They just grown from your finger tips and you want to go after the person that has hurt your child.
I know my children are not perfect. I've even known them to twist a tale or two to fit their needs. But, when the truth comes out and my child has been hurt, humilated or belittled at someone else's expense...then my tallons can reach across the room and rip you apart.

My youngest daughter, who's in the 9th grade, recently had a PE teacher that thought it was important while discussing health, weight management and body image to WEIGH the girls. Not the boys, just the girls. Then to comment on their weight. We're talking about teenage girls with self esteem, personal image issues already...then to have someone in authority do this to them. Just let me say, I wasn't the only parent who had to sharpen the claws on this one.

  4. Cindy,
I failed to mention it was a MALE PE teacher...which made it worse I think.
