Happy Birthday to me

By the time you read this I will be on a plane on my way home from Asia.
I am looking forward to putting my feet on the ground at home.

Today is the birthday and I think being crunched up on an airplane for 18 hours is the worst way I have spent a birthday so instead of concentrating on that I decided to focus on remembering my fondest memory of a birthday past. I have two of them. I was surrounded by my children and family for both. I am fortunate to be sitting next to my husband who is not only my husband but also my best friend on the way home this year..I am not alone.

SO..what is your fondest birthday memory? Write a page about it. Why does it stand out?

By the way...EVERY Birthday is a celebration no matter where we find ourselves because it is indeed a celebration of another year of the gift of life. One way I celebrate my birthday is by giving my mother a small gift each year..for if not for her, I would not be alive.

To my daughter Sarah, I LOVED the art journal prompt as well as the journal prompt and will be working on your art journal prompt on Monday. Thank you for standing in.

Have a fantastic Saturday!

Sending Love,
Susan

  1. Happy Birthday Susan!

My favorite birthday was in the late 90's. I was living in Hampton, VA. It was a basically uneventful thirty something birthday. There is a knock at the door and there stands my dad and my stepmom! After my initital shock of them being on my doorstep, I asked where their dog was. Sassy always traveled with them. They said she was with my sister and I didn't think much more of that. About 20 minutes later, another knock at the door and there stands my sister with Sassy. She had been with Sassy...taking her for a walk. My family had come to see me on my birthday! Now this is a day I had dreamed about for years and years. And I do mean dreamed about. My father and I didn't speak for many many years after my mother died and he remarried. I only got to see my sister about once a year. The few years leading up to this birthday, my dad had made some major life changes, including a divorce and remarriage to my current stepmom. She helped repair our family. It's still not a perfect family, but it's better than no family at all. It was the very best birthday ever, to have my family with me, have us all together again, repairing what had been broken. That day lead me to where I am today...back home in Ohio, living near my family. I am grateful for this reminder today.

  2. HAPPY BD SUSAN and WELCOME BACK HOME!!!

My favorite BD was in 2007, when my 2 daughter manage to bring all the family members to celebrate my BD.
This was the first time after about 11-12 years of not having everybody together.

  3. I've had a lot of life (and family near death) keeping me away...

SO, I may be a little late in wishing you a Merry Birthday and celebrating you, but the wish is just as big and heartfelt.
